During college, she studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, which began her life-long love of traveling the world. After college, she taught English as a second language in Costa Rica and Mexico City, before returning home to attend law school.
In 2009, she earned her J.D. from Campbell University with the last graduating class from Buies Creek. There she served as president of the Campbell Law Innocence Project and content editor for the Campbell Law Observer. Her law school accolades include the Pro Bono Publico Award, the Book Award in Eighth Amendment Death Penalty Litigation, and the NC State Bar Pro Bono Service Award.
