Employment Based Immigration

Raleigh Employment-Based Immigration Attorneys

Do You Need to Live in the U.S. for Your Job?

There are two distinct options for working in the United States as a foreign national. You can obtain a work permit allowing you to live and work temporarily in the United States. There are over 60 different kinds of non-immigrant visas from which to choose.

While a temporary or nonimmigrant visa gives you the opportunity to work for a limited period in the U.S., employment-based immigration is an avenue to permanent legal residency. There are a limited number of employment-based immigrant visas allotted annually in the U.S. For this reason, obtaining an immigration work visa can be challenging. It is wise to work with one of our experienced and knowledgeable Raleigh employment immigration lawyers.

What Is an Investor Visa?

The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program is a visa offered by the United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) to those foreign nationals who wish to invest capital in new startup ventures in the United States - particularly ventures in rural areas with high unemployment rates. This program was initiated in 1990 as a way to boost the United States economy.

Foreign citizens who invest a certain amount of money in new commercial enterprises in the U.S. - thus promoting job creation and economic growth - may be eligible for the investor visa.

Professional athletes may apply for O & P Visas to obtain temporary residence in the U.S. to perform and compete in sporting competitions. Sports coaches and managers may also travel to the U.S. with an EB-1 visa.
